The Business
Gut Check
When you picture your business a year from now, which is closest?
*
I mostly want it to stop feeling so hard.
I want more clients, but I haven't thought past that.
I have an income goal, but not a picture of the life around it.
I know what success looks like for me, and I'm building toward it.
How well does your business fit the life you want right now?
*
It's taking over my life.
Some weeks it fits and some weeks it doesn't, and I can't predict which.
It mostly fits, but I spend too much time on things that drain me.
It fits. When things get out of balance, I know why and for how long.
How would you describe what you sell?
*
A little of everything, depending on who asks.
I have several offers, and I'm not sure which ones are working.
I have a main offer, but I struggle to explain it or price it.
I have a clear signature offer, and I'm confident in the price.
How well do you know your best clients?
*
I take whoever comes along.
I know who I enjoy working with, but not what they have in common.
I know who they are, but my marketing doesn't speak to them yet.
I know who they are, what they need, and how they describe it.
Right now, how do you know whether your business made money last month?
*
I check my bank balance and hope.
I have a rough idea, but I'd have to dig.
I track what comes in or what goes out, but not both.
I can pull up my profit in a few minutes.
Which describes your business setup?
*
My business and personal money share an account.
I have a separate account, but no bookkeeping system.
I have a separate account and bookkeeping, but I'm not sure my legal setup is right.
My legal structure, banking, bookkeeping and client contracts are all in place.
How do new clients find you?
*
I'm not really sure. They just show up sometimes.
Mostly word of mouth, and it comes and goes.
I have a couple of ways, but I'm not consistent with them.
I know my two or three best sources and show up there consistently.
How do you stay in touch with people who aren't ready to buy yet?
*
I don't.
I have their contact information somewhere.
I have an email list, but I rarely use it.
I have a list, and I stay in touch regularly.
When someone's interested in working with you, what happens?
*
It's different every time.
We talk, and I often wait too long to make an offer, or don't make one at all.
I have a sales conversation, but my follow-up is hit or miss.
I have a clear process from first conversation to signed client.
If you took two weeks off, what would happen to your business?
*
Everything would stop.
I'd come back to a mess.
Some things would keep running, but clients would notice.
My systems would hold things together until I got back.
Almost done. A couple of quick reflections, then your results.
A year from now, if your business were working exactly the way you want, what would be different?
How soon are you looking to make a change?
*
Now
In the next 3 months
I'm just exploring
